Tanjung Manis - Tanjung Manis Oil Terminal Management Sdn Bhd (TMOTM), a subsidiary of Senari Synergy Group, had successfully conducted a Major Tier 2 Fire Drill today at the Central Oil Distribution Terminal (CODT), reinforcing commitment to emergency preparedness, workplace safety, and public-private collaboration.
Held in conjunction with OSH Week Zon Sibu 2025, the event brought together representatives from government agencies, industry stakeholders, neighbouring companies, and members of the local community. Participating agencies included Tanjung Manis Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA), the Tanjung Manis District Police, Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), and Sarikei Customs Department. The representatives from asset owner, Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd, industry partners such as Shell Timur Sdn Bhd and PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad were also present.
The drill simulated a critical incident involving a lorry fire during loading operations involving Unleaded Gasoline 95. This exercise tested the activation of TMOTM’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP), coordination between Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and surrounding agencies, and the effectiveness of first responders in managing the incident and containing the fire.
The event was officiated by Tuan Jamadi Bin Yusup, Director of DOSH Sarawak, who commended TMOTM for its strong commitment to both operational safety and organisational integrity.
He commented, “The dedication and commitment shown by TMOTM not only reflect integrity, but such efforts are commendable and should be emulated by other organizations. This demonstrates that a work culture grounded in safety, social responsibility, and patriotism can be nurtured through continuous and high-impact initiatives. It is hoped that this step will strengthen the commitment of the workforce to uphold the principles of integrity while enhancing occupational safety and health”.
A post-drill debriefing session was held to review response efforts and gather feedback from participants and observers. The insights will help TMOTM continue enhancing its HSSE practices and emergency protocols, ensuring greater preparedness for real-life scenarios.
As of to-date, TMOTM has achieved 1.94 million manhours without lost time injury. Towards commitment in maintaining the achievement, TMOTM staff has shown proactive intervention culture and worked together with customers and other agencies to ensure safe working place and by participating in this event has improved their skills, knowledge and good practises in safety and health activities.
The event also featured a mass Integrity Pledge Ceremony, held as part of the DOSH’s ongoing nation-wide Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) tour. This campaign is being carried out across Malaysia to promote a culture of transparency, ethical conduct, and accountability in the workplace.
CODT was selected as one of the official venues in Sarawak to host this pledge. Similar sessions are being conducted at multiple locations throughout the tour. While each venue holds its own event, it is the combined number of participants from all locations nationwide that will be submitted to the ASEAN Book of Records for recognition as the largest Integrity Pledge ever conducted in Malaysia.
